Positive psychology and meditation, which are coming into the spotlight, has recently showed us that the paradigm to solve human psychological problems is changing. The Humanities therapy also reflects these changes. The final aim of the Humanities Therapy is living happily. We, living in modern society, suffer from many types of stress and desires. The Humanities therapy is the way that leads us to happiness by curing the disease of the mind. Inquiries into the human mind and happiness are very important tasks in the Humanities therapy. Following, this paper examines the concept of ``happiness`` in Confucianism, the mainstream philosophy in Asia, and investigates how to apply the Confucian Cultivation of the mind to the Humanities therapy. From the viewpoint of Confucianism, ``diseases of the mind`` are the loss of one`s nature by outside temptations or instinctive desires to get out of the state. Cultivation is training to preserve one`s mind when affected by external environments and desires. The loss of one`s true self leads to confusion, and the process of healing is to find the natural state and self-awareness. Therefore, the model of the Humanities therapy based on Confucianism, emphasizes the importance of recovery of the human nature(人性) rather than the correction of ``behavior problems``. In addition, it is more concerned with the recovery and maintenance of the original self rather than the training of adaptation to society. As for methodology, it focuses on the perseverance and emphasizes harmony rather than the satisfaction of desires or eruptions.
